How Is Money Holding You Back
During this pandemic, it has come to my attention that money seems to rule our lives. When people lost their jobs, mine included, panic ensued. How will we pay our bills? Then we got the stimulus check and things got better. But here’s the thing: money is and always will be temporary. It’s not the end all be all.
I am a firm believer that if you follow your passion God has laid on your heart, you will be alright financially. He will take care of you. Too many people get caught up in trying to save, save, save that they get greedy. God doesn’t call us to hoard our money, but to give freely. Sure, being financially smart isn’t a bad thing, but there comes a fine line between trusting God and taking matters into our own hands which will eventually end in failure.
We weren’t created to spend our lives chasing money. In reality, it’s only paper that everyone has been told has a certain value. It’s shallow. It will never fill you up, you will end up feeling empty every time.
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
Chase a passion. Chase a calling. Chase a desire God has laid on your heart, but don’t chase money. We can’t take it with us when we’re gone. It can give us worldly comfort, but in the end that is only temporary. We need to be pursuing and exploring our eternal home, not fixated on the now. Soon the present will be the past and most of us will be no closer to what we think we desire then we were.
God is challenging me to give up control of my finances. Stopping hold them in a death grip. Hold them lightly and with a childish wonder. Don’t tie how much money you have to how happy you are or how successful you are. Money doesn’t always mean impact.
This is a season of spiritual growth. I refuse to let money stand in the way of that.
How is money holding you back? It’s time to take our lives back and break these chains. Don’t let money define your life.
Make space to slow down and listen. What is your heart actually telling you? Silence fear with faith and allow yourself to come back to basics. God is waiting there for you, with more than enough love and grace to sustain you.
We must work diligently to retrain our minds to seek out God first and finances second.
Time to seek a higher calling. Money doesn’t define you. You are more than your paycheck. Chase your wildest dreams and let God do His work. Besides, faith without chance isn’t much faith to begin with. God will provide for you if you give Him the chance.
Stop being afraid and take a leap of faith. Money can only hold you back when you hold yourself back first.
